Here are some answers to a few questions commonly asked.
If your questions are not answered please write us and we will try to answer them.

Q: How can I tell if I have a case worth pursuing?

A: Go to the Contact Us page and write us about your case explaining how your rights have bene violated, what you have done to resolve the case, and what you are seeking.

Q: Can one of the lawyers do my case for free?

A: Generally, lawyers do very few pro bono cases (cases for free). Even if a lawyer does not charge a fee for his time spent working on your case, you often must still pay for the costs and expenses paid to bring your case by your lawyer. These costs and expeneses include telephone calls, faxes, photocopies, filing fees charged by courts, mail and courrier services, translations and certification services, printing, experts' fees, etc.. If you cannot pay to bring your case and can prove that you do not have the money, please still contact us and a lawyer will consider your case for pro bono representation.

Q: What do you mean "I have to exhaust domestic remedies"?

A: If you case concerns an individual right protected by a treaty and you wish to complain to an international tribunal rather than a domestic court, then you must first exhaust domestic remedies or have very good reasons for not having done so. When you first contact us about your case, tell us what you have done to resolve it in the domestic courts. We can then advise you as to whether or not we can take you case to an international tribunal.

Q: Can you litigate my case in a foreign country?

A: If your case is in a domestic court concerning domestic law in a foreign country we generally cannot litigate your case for you. However, if your case may involve a matter of international law we can assist your domestic lawyer and bring your case to an international tribunal if you are not successful at the domestic level.
